The Minister backed Environmental Protection Authority recommendations made earlier in the year, which warned there would be significant impacts or risks from the proposed mine in Margaret River on the Leederville and Sue aquifers.

We’re thrilled with the Minister’s decision – not only does it go a long way towards protecting the region’s ‘clean, green’ image, it also reinforces the importance and fragility of the area’s natural values – from wetlands and groundwater to plants and animals and their habitats. This corner of southwest Western Australia is one of the most spectacular places on earth when it comes to the natural environment. For now at least, it looks set to remain that way.
